our story

HOW THE FIRE STARTED

Ghost Peppers Today started in the spring of 2011 as a simple gardening hobby in Oregon. Lamar Visarraga Sr. (founder) planted his first super-hot peppers in a backyard with zero business plan and absolutely no intention of building a company. He simply believed that the best peppers deserve patience, not mass production. When harvest came, the peppers were too good to keep to himself. He took them to the Oregon County Fair and the Eugene Farmers Market with a folding table and peppers that spoke for themselves. There was no marketing budget and no slick packaging. Word spread. Customers came back. Then they brought friends.

Today we operate out of Atlanta, Georgia, shipping super-hot pepper products to kitchens, restaurants, and heat enthusiasts across all 50 states. The scale has changed, but the standard has not. Every batch is still handled with the same care we learned in that Oregon backyard.

FAQs

Common Questions From Pepper Lovers

What makes your ghost peppers different from grocery store peppers?

Grocery store peppers often sit in warehouses for months, losing potency and flavor. Our peppers are grower-direct, processed in small batches, and shipped fresh from Atlanta. We handle every batch with the same care we used when growing peppers in our own backyard.

Yes. We offer both Regular and Smoked flavors for our Ghost Pepper and African Bird products. Our smoked peppers are slow-dried to add a deep, earthy layer to the heat. Perfect for barbecue rubs, chili, and anything that needs fire with a hint of campfire.

Start small. Our ghost pepper powder blends easily into soups, sauces, and marinades. A quarter teaspoon is plenty for most dishes. You can always add more heat. You cannot take it out. We recommend wearing gloves when handling dried pods or flakes.

We process orders quickly and ship from Atlanta, Georgia. Most customers receive their peppers within 3 to 7 business days. We pack everything with care because broken jars and spilled powder are tragedies we refuse to let happen.

Not at all. Our African Bird Pepper sits at a mild-to-hot level, making it perfect for everyday marinades and seafood. Our Ghost Pepper and Scotch Bonnet bring serious heat for the brave, but even those can be used in small amounts to build incredible flavor without melting your face off.
